Two MSU basketball players raped a woman in the dorms then one admitted to it. Their only consequence was that they had to move out of the dorms. This picture is of me and one other woman holding up this banner during Midnight Madness. Two other brave souls had a banner on the other side for a while before some jerk started playing tug or war with them over it. This was taken before we got booed at by 10,000 people and police escorted from the stadium.

She came to the great “Amreeka” thinking her high school ‘Englisee’ course would be more than enough to help her understand the white peoples tongue. But when she finally came to this land she had heard about so much, she only then realized her English wasn’t even well enough for her to order a cheese burger from McDonalds without having the lady at the register throw rude looks at her and the people behind her sigh impatiently as she stood in front of the counter looking cluelessly at the menu board trying to communicate with her broken english.

The soviets invading her homeland may have put a pause on her dream. Her husband fighting cancer and leaving behind 4 crazy children whom she cares for even though they are all adults now may have put a pause on her dream. But that was just a temporary pause. Nothing else.

She didn’t care what she had to do. She was determined to finish her education at any cost. Whether it meant her staying up till 4 am studying her flash cards when she had to be at work at 8 am, hosting family get togethers so we could still be in touch with our fathers side when she had exams the next day, or knocking my door at 2 am, begging me not to get mad at her for waking me up and asking me to help her understand what her psychology text book was talking about. None of that got in her way.

Yes. She may have taken a little longer than the average college student, but as of this friday, she’s now apart of the Class of 2013 and received her degree in Child Development. Aint nothing stopping this woman in getting what she wants & you bet I’m proud to call this lady my mom.

Kristian Matsson is coming to Louisville on Saturday, and I cannot wait!! He is by far one of my favorite artists of the past 5 years. Should be a phenomenal show.
